This week's Pew News

Gardening Party

We are hoping to establish a regular working-party to keep the churchyard neat, doing ordinary tasks that the Council workers don't cover. This includes ensuring that each of the doorways are free of litter, leaves, confetti and so on; ensuring the down-pipe drains aren't blocked; weeding the path edges etc. We would like it to be a regular activity where volunteers are free to drop in when they can and initially we will start on Tuesday mornings between 9:30 and 11:30. If it settles down to be a regular group then we can change day/time if wanted, and we will have to fit in around funerals and other services/events in the church. But if we work regularly it can make a worthwhile difference to the "kerbside appeal" of our wonderful building.         Nick and Margaret Taylor

There will be training evening for servers on the 24th May at 7.30pm in St.Oswald’s. Also invited: anyone who would like to serve or is interested or would just like to know more.

. . . tonight in St.Oswald’s there will be celebratory food and drink. Do join us if you can.

Thank you for your help!

Our cake stall at Tissington Well Dressings raised £835.26 for Christian Aid. We really appreciate your help. Our first cake stall at Tissington was held in 1984 and over the years, along with other fundraising, we have raised over £50,000 for Christian Aid’s work.

The stall is organised by Ashbourne’s One World Group which is part of Ashbourne Churches Together. The group aims to raise awareness of world development issues. We also help to support the Syrian refugees living in the area and raise funds for Christian Aid. If you are interested in getting involved in the group, please contact Stuart Green on 01335 300338 or stuart@greenofashbourne.plus.com.

Thank you again for your help.

Raising funds for ACE Youth Summer Programme.

Two weeks today I should have started my 115km walk along the Camino from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain to raise money for the ACE Youth Summer Programme.  The clock is ticking and I need to get a move on so I can reach Santiago in 5 days to celebrate Mass in the Cathedral, collect the stamps on my pilgrim's passport and raise money for ACE. In case you are wondering, Keith will be ferrying the luggage and spare hiking boots in a hire car between hotels and hostels and meeting up with me at the end of each day.

As usual I am running to the wire setting up a fundraising page and trying to keep on track with the training.

If you would consider sponsoring me and could spread the word by sending the following link to others who support the work of ACE Youth Trust I would be very grateful.

Here is the link: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/louisedoble1

Blisters aside I am sincerely hoping that I don't break an ankle on this sponsored walk as Derbyshire Mountain Rescue won't be around to assist.

Many thanks and best wishes
